Falcons Conclude Second Day of USATF Championship Action

DES MOINES, Iowa - Current and former members of the Air Force track and field team concluded action during the second day of action at the USA Track and Field National Championships this evening (June 24) in Des Moines, Iowa.
Competing in the junior decathlon, rising sophomore Michael Tibbs entered the day in eighth place. He clocked a time of 15.39 in the 110-meter hurdles to finish ninth, before placing fourth in the discus throw with a distance of 132'0". While warming up for the pole vault, Tibbs pulled his hamstring and was forced to withdraw from the competition.
Former Falcon Sean Houseworth (Class of 2009) finished 17th in the senior-level 10,000-meter run during the opening day of competition at the USATF senior-level championships. Houseworth clocked a time of 30:13.56. Houseworth finished just over a minute behind meet winner, Galen Rupp, who won the 24-runner race with a time of 28:59.29.
Action continues at the USATF Championships tomorrow (June 25) with past standouts Matt Williams (3000-meter steeplechase) and Daniel Castle (1500-meter run) competing at Drake Stadium. In addition, volunteer coach Jenny Barringer will compete in the 5000-meter run.
