Falcon Baseball Places Three On MWC Academic All-Conference Team

A trio of Air Force baseball players were named to the spring 2010 Academic All-Mountain West Conference team, announced by the conference office today. Pitchers Evan Abrecht, Michael Ceci and Matt Zettler earned all-academic honors.
Abrecht and Ceci are now two-time academic all-conference honorees, while Zettler earns his first.
Abrecht, a sophomore right-hander, led the team with a 8.94 earned run average and three saves. The Farmington, Ark., native, appeared in 22 games, striking out 45 in 53.1 innings pitched. Abrecht, who is majoring in Systems Engineering Humanities, posted a 3.43 grade point average.
Ceci, a sophomore left-hander, appeared in 15 games, making three starts. The Marietta, Ga., native pitched 23.2 innings and walked just five batters. Ceci, who is majoring in Management, posted a 3.70 GPA.
Zettler, a freshman right-hander, appeared in 19 games as a reliever. The Winter Springs, Fla., native struck out 18 batters in 24.1 innings pitched. Zettler, who is undecided on his major, posted a 3.07 GPA.
The spring 2010 Academic All-Mountain West Conference team included athletes in baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, softball, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track and field. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
