Flick, DeBonis Named to All-ECAC Academic Team

CAPE COD, Mass. - Air Force lacrosse players Ridge Flick and John DeBonis have been named to the 2010 All-ECAC Academic Team, as announced by ECAC Commissioner Rudy Keeling on Thursday afternoon. Thirty-one athletes from the league's eight teams earned a spot on the prestigious team.
In order to be selected to the team, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA through at least four semesters of work at his current institution, be a significant contributor to his team and have participated in at least 50 percent of the games (33 percent of the minutes for goalies).
Flick, a native of Plano, Texas, graduated from the Academy in May with a degree in aeronautical engineering. The Falcons' team captain and team MVP, Flick carried a 3.49 GPA. Finishing the 2010 season second on the team in points scored with 27, Flick was also a finalist for the prestigious Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.
Meanwhile, DeBonis, a native of Sayville, N.Y., is currently a rising junior for the Falcons. A mechanical engineering major, DeBonis carries a 3.20 cumulative GPA. In 2010, DeBonis was second in face-off win percentage and third in total ground balls and was named the recipient of the Falcons' Unsung Hero and Pace Weber Awards.
Quinnipiac led the way with seven selections to the All-ECAC Academic team, followed by Denver and Fairfield with five selections each. Ohio State had four student-athletes named to the team, while Bellarmine and Hobart had three players selected. Air Force and Loyola each had two players honored.
