Falcons Drop Road Contest to UT Martin

MARTIN, Tenn. - Playing its second-straight road game to start the season, the Air Force women's basketball team dropped an 84-60 decision to host University of Tennessee at Martin Sunday afternoon in the Elam Center. With the loss, the Falcons fall to 1-1 on the season, while the Skyhawks improve to 2-0.
Air Force led early in the game, with the Falcons on top, 14-11, in the first five minutes of the contest. However, UT Martin used hot shooting from beyond the arc, knocking down seven three-pointers in the half, to pull ahead. The Skyhawks led by as many as 10 points before taking a 41-33 advantage at the break.
UT Martin pulled away after the intermission, going on a 15-4 run to start the half. The Skyhawks led by as many as 26 points late in the period, aided in part by 18 second-half turnovers by the Falcons.
Air Force outrebounded Lipscomb, 40-35, but committed 27 turnovers in the game, compared to 17 for UT Martin. The Skyhawks also had the advantage at the free throw line, knocking down 10-of-11 foul shots, while the Falcons were just 2-of-4 from the charity stripe.
Junior Alicia Leipprandt (Ubly, Mich.) led the Falcons' offense with 16 points, while sophomore Camille Thompson (McDonough, Ga.) was second on the team with nine points. Meanwhile, Katie Hilbig (Jr., Castle Rock, Colo.) pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.
The Skyhawks had four players score in double figures, led by Heather Butler with 23 points.
The Falcons head back to Colorado for their home opener on Thursday, Nov. 17, as they host in-state rival Denver in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
