Falcons Take Three Victories From Army

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Senior Mike McLain repeated as the Academy's Boxer of the Week, as the Air Force boxing team went 3-5 against Army in its annual service academy showdown on Friday, Nov. 4, at the Academy's Cadet Gym Boxing Room. McLain earned the team award for the second straight week.
McLain, the only senior on the night's card, closed out the eight-card contest with a 177-pound contest with Zoar Morales. The two brought the crowd to their feet, as they exchanged blows for six straight minutes.
"He stepped up and showed the younger guys how to get it done," assistant boxing coach Capt Blake Baldi said of McLain.
Stephen Bittner picked up the first win of the night for the Falcons during the fourth bout, as he defeated Ceon Harrin by decision in a 125-pound contest. Air Force followed that up with another victory, as Will Petersen fought a smart six-minute fight at 134 pounds. Petersen used his reach advantage and constant pressure to decision Jeremias Ortiz.
Five additional bouts were contested at the showdown, which ran in conjunction with the annual football game between the two service academies. Army claimed the first three bout titles, as Glenn Miltenberg dropped a 151-pound decision to Sebastian Mimms, Michael Leland was decisioned by Jackson Matheson at 162 pounds and Sean Cork's 147-pound bout with Manny Osei was halted by the referee in the first round.
Army picked up another pair of back-to-back victories, as John Alora dropped a 147-pound bout to Tony Buske and Derrick Demyanek was decisioned by Victor Lowe at 177 pounds.
The Falcons return to action on Nov. 18, when they host another round of Friday Night Fights at 4:30 p.m.
