FORT WORTH, Texas - Playing in its final road game of the season, the Air Force women's basketball team fell to TCU, 88-51, Wednesday evening at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. The Falcons drop to 8-20 overall on the season and 3-12 in the MWC, while the Horned Frogs move to 21-9 overall, 13-3 in the league.
Air Force, which defeated TCU earlier this season, kept the score close early in the first half, trailing 13-12 with 13:08 on the clock. However, a scoring drought by the Falcons enabled the Horned Frogs to go on a 24-0 run over the next 10 minutes before closing out the half with a 43-20 advantage.
Senior Raimee Beck (Blackfoot, Idaho) converted a TCU turnover into a layup to give the Falcons the first points of the second half, but Air Force never got any closer the rest of the way. The Falcons, who attempted just 11 free throws compared to 26 for the Horned Frogs, were outrebounded 41-28 for the game and shot just 36.5 percent from the field.
Leading the way for Air Force was sophomore Megan Muniz (Rio Rancho, N.M.), who finished with 15 points, while Beck added 12 points and a team-best five assists. Also scoring in double figures for the Falcons was Dymond James (So., Brambleton, Va.) with 10 points. Meanwhile, Emily Carter led four TCU players in double figures with 24 points.
The Falcons wrap up the regular season on Saturday, March 5, when they host New Mexico at 12:00 p.m.
