SALT LAKE CITY - Due to wet weather conditions at Spring Mobile Ballpark, the Air Force-Utah baseball game was halted after seven innings of play with the Utes leading 9-4. The remainder of the game will be completed when Utah visits Air Force on April 29.
Due to the wet field conditions caused by overnight snowfall, first pitch was pushed back nearly two hours to 2:45. The original first pitch time was slated for 1 p.m. Also due to Air Force's travel plans, no new inning could start after 4:30 p.m.
The Falcons struggled to hold a 4-0 lead early on, as Utah has scored nine unanswered runs so far in the game.
Air Force scored four runs in the second inning with back-to-back, two-run base hit's by Matthew Roberst and Garrett Custons.
Utah rallied back with a run in the third and tied it up with three runs in the fourth. The Utes took the lead with four runs in the fifth and added one more in the sixth to make it a 9-4 ballgame.
The Falcons have five hits in the game and have committed three errors. Utah had 13 hits and one error.
Starting pitcher Michael Ceci pitched 3.1 innings, allowing four runs, just one earned. Luke Dorlac and Alex Baker also pitched in relief. Stephen Colangelo pitched the seventh inning for the Falcons and could still pitch in the game on April 29.
Utah starting pitcher Ben Mordini threw all seven innings for Utah.
