Women's Swimming & Diving Announces 2010-11 Team Awards

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's swimming & diving announced their 2010-11 team award winners at the season-ending team award dinner. Sophomore Haley Holcombe took home team MVP honors.
Holcombe was named MVP after record-setting performances at the Mountain West Conference Swimming & Diving Championships. The Snellville, Ga., native set school records in the 100 yard butterfly (55.31) and 200 fly (2:02.36) events. In addition, Holcombe was a part of the school-record setting 200 and 400 medley relays.
A member of each class earned the Lindsay Michela Brown Team Most Inspiration Award, named in honor of Lindsay Brown, a former swim team member who passed away in a car accident in 2007. The award recognizes an athlete from each class who best exemplified what it means to be a great teammate. Senior Kaeli Kluesner, junior Katharine Ernst, sophomore Alexandra Trobe and freshman Michelle Kuyper earned most inspirational awards.
The team Coaches Award, given to the swimmer who gave an extraordinary commitment to personal and team goals, went to freshman Erin Bleyl. The Tucson, Ariz., native completed a successful rookie campaign by setting six school records. Bleyl set school records in the 100 backstroke (56.28) and 200 back (2:01.66) in addition to being a part of four record-setting relay teams.
In addition to earning senior most inspirational, Kaeli Kluesner, a Denver native, was honored as the senior who contributed the most to AFA women's swimming success in their career. Senior Caitlin Teresky, from Newton, Pa., was honored with the Team Captain Award.
Air Force also named Katharine Ernst, from Folsom, Calif., as its team captain for the 2011-12 season.
