Bryce Bergman Concludes Competition at USATF Championships

EUGENE, Ore. - Air Force rising senior Bryce Bergman placed 21st during the first round of 400-meter hurdles competition at the 2011 USA Track and Field Outdoor National Championships on Friday, June 24, in Eugene, Ore. Bergman, one of two members of the 2011 squad at the national meet, was the only Falcon competing today at Historic Hayward Field.
Bergman, the reigning Mountain West Conference champion, competed in the first of four heats of the 400-meter hurdles. Clocking a time of 53.22, Bergman placed sixth in his heat and 21st overall. The top 16 finishers, paced by the 2011 Pac-10 champion Jeshua Anderson (49.83), advanced to tomorrow's semifinal round.
Members of the Air Force program wrap up competition at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships tomorrow (June 25), with 2006 graduate Dana Pounds-Lyon (javelin throw, 12:50 p.m.), 2011 graduate Justin Tyner (3000-meter steeplechase finals, 2:14 p.m.) and volunteer coach Jenny Simpson (1500-meter finals, 2:33 p.m.).
