DES MOINES, Iowa - The painful hamstring injury that hampered Noah Palicia throughout the first day of the decathlon finals has sidelined the Air Force senior for the second day of competition at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
Palicia, who hadn't competed since first injuring his hamstring in mid-April, completed a gutsy performance on Wednesday, amassing 3,145 points through the first five events. However, despite his best efforts today, the pain forced Palicia to withdrawal from the competition.
The Falcons will wrap up NCAA Championship action tomorrow (June 10), when Justin Tyner competes in the finals of the 3000-meter steeplechase at 7:30 p.m. (CST).
