Falcons Open Season with Blue-Silver match on Friday

The Air Force men's tennis team kicks off its 2011-12 season on Friday, August 26 with the annual Blue-Silver intrasquad match, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The team will be divided into the two squads and will play a dual match.
"We're trying to simulate a real match," remarked men's tennis coach Dan Oosterhous, who expects a great turn out. "All the guys are excited for the season. It's early but it's great to see their energy."
The Blue team consists of senior Michael Tope, juniors Lance Wilhelm and Vinni Lodolo, sophomore Alex Lineberry and freshman Joey Brandt. The Silver team will be junior Stephen Katrein, sophomores Steven Young and Ali Rizvi and freshmen Landon Kinsey and Grant Taylor. Junior Sam Barnes and sophomores Alex Grubbs and Andy Jackson will sit out due to injuries.
Oosterhous is very excited about the freshmen class. "These boys have a lot of potential and they're definitely athletes to look out for," explained the coach. He especially expects Taylor to make a significant impact in doubles this season.
Friday's Blue-Silver match is free and open to the public.
