The Falcons play College of Charleston on Friday, Sept., 16 at 5 p.m., and Buffalo on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 11 a.m.The Falcons are 3-1 after winning the Pitt / Nike Invitational last Weekend in Pittsburgh, Pa. Air Force defeated Pitt, 2-1, on Friday and Duquesne, 3-2, on Sunday to capture the title. College of Charleston is 3-1-1 this season while Buffalo enters its game on Friday at Denver with a 4-1-1 record. Pitt / Nike Invitational ChampsThe Falcons claimed the title at the Pitt / Nike Invitational last weekend with a pair of wins in Pittsburgh, Pa. Juniors Kevin Durr and Garrett Getschow scored in a 2-1 win over Pitt with Getschow notching the game-winner with just 1:34 remaining. On Sunday, Brian Klazura scored twice and Getschow added another goal as the Falcons rallied again for a 3-2 win over Duquesne. Air Force and Bowling Green each went 2-0 during the tournament, but the Falcons claimed the title by outscoring BGSU, 5-2. Klazura, Durr, junior Eric Tise and sophomore Caleb Downey were selected to the all-tournament team. Klazura Named MPSF Player of the WeekSophomore forward Brian Klazura was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's soccer player of the week. Klazura scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 80th minute, to lead Air Force to a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Duquesne Sunday and capture the Pitt/Nike Invitational title. The Falcons captured the tournament title with a perfect 2-0 record and improved to 3-1 this season, their best start since 2004. Air Force defeated Pitt, 2-1, in the opener on Friday.Klazura was also named AFA's co-Athlete of the Week for his efforts. Air Force, which won its first two road games in a season since 2004, improved to 2-1 this season, while the Panthers fell to 1-3-1.Getschow found himself alone down the right side after taking a pass from John Melcher and sent a shot past Panther goalie Lee Johnston into the far corner of the net. It was Getschow's second goal of the season and the first game-winner of his career. Melcher, meanwhile, posted his second assist of the season.Pitt took a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute when Robert Iledare headed a free kick from Manny Morgado past Falcon keeper Matt Underwood. It was the Panthers' only shot on goal in the first half and they mustered just one more in the second half when Underwood saved a shot from Alex Harrison.Junior Kevin Durr evened the game at 1-all in the 70th minute by blasting a 20-yard shot past Johnston into the far right corner. Junior Conor Henry notched an assist on the play, as did junior Jake Jones, who posted the first point of his career.Air Force outshot Pitt 14-7 overall and 6-2 in shots on goal. Johnston made four saves for the Panthers, who held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. Duquesne, meanwhile, went 0-2 during the weekend and fell to 2-2-1 on the season.Klazura opened the scoring in the seventh minute when he took a beautiful crossing pass from junior Trevor Wade and slid a shot past the right side of Duquesne goalie Colin Thorp. The Dukes evened the game at 1-all when Simon Gomez took a pass from Nathan McCann and beat Falcon keeper Matt Underwood in the 12th minute.Julio Perez put Duquesne ahead 2-1 in the 64th minute with an unassisted goal into the far corner past Underwood. Falcon junior Garrett Getschow tied it up a 2-all at the 78:49 mark with his second goal of the tournament. Senior co-captain John Melcher started the play by dribbling the ball 20 yards then slid a pass to Getschow, who was crashing the net and tapped the ball past Perez.Klazura then notched the game-winner just 46 seconds later with a header from five yards that beat Thorp. Freshman Zachary Modly sent the ball into the box for the first assist of his career.Duquesne outshot Air Force 17-10, but the shots on goal were even at six apiece. Klazura, Gomez and Duquesne's Joshua Patterson each had a game-high three shots. Underwood made four saves, while Thorp had three for the Dukes.
