Rachel Herald Named Air Force Athlete of the Week

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Senior Rachel Herald was named the Air Force Athlete of the Week on Monday, Dec. 14, after setting a new Academy high jump record at the last week's AF Holiday Open.

Clearing 5'10½", Herald easily broke the previous Academy standard of 5'9¾" that Jennifer Petykowski had held since 1996 to win the 11-competitor event by over five inches. That mark, a career best by over three inches, also shattered the Senior Class Record of 5'7" that had stood since 1995 (Kristi Lowenthal).

Herald paced the Falcons to three of the top-five finishes in the high jump during the program's season-opening meet

The Falcons return to action on Saturday, Jan. 11, when they host the annual Air Force All-Comers Meet.
