This Week...
The Air Force wrestling team is back in action this weekend, Nov. 22, at the UNK Holiday Inn Open, hosted by Nebraska-Kearney. Live results for the tournament will be available at trackwrestling.com.
Last Week...
Air Force battled top-ranked Minnesota to a 28-15 defeat last Saturday, Nov. 15, in front of over 1,000 fans.
The Falcons won three weight classes, led by junior Josh Martinez. Josh Martinez won the 125-pound class by technical fall, 17-0 (4:02) over Sam Brancale. Anthony McHugh scored six points with a win in the 133-pound class with a fall (1:48) over Jordan Kingsley.
Air Force picked up its third win when Jack Carda won the 197 pound class with a major decision, 12-2, over Christopher Pfarr.
In the National Rankings...
The Falcons have a pair of wrestlers currently ranked by numerous wrestling publications. Junior Josh Martinez, a two-time NCAA qualifier, is currently ranked eighth at 125 pounds by InterMat and W.I.N. Magazine, ninth by Open Mat and 10th by Wrestling Report.
Meanwhile, senior Jesse Stafford, is rated 15th in the nation at 165 pounds by Open Mat and 16th by InterMat and W.I.N. Magazine and 20th by Wrestling Report.
