Falcons Close out Fall Semester with 12 Bouts

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force boxing team closed out the fall semester this evening (Dec. 11) with 12 competitive Thursday Night Throwdown bouts in the Cadet Gym Boxing Room. Sophomore Pedro Barrientes was selected as the program's Boxer of the Night, while 11 of the 12 contests went to the judges for decision.
Barrientes claimed a 159-pound victory over Nick Schultz - the recipient of last week's top boxer award - to claim his first weekly honor of the year. Barrientes was joined on the list of middleweight winners by Landon Tomcho and Austin Porter. Tomcho took a decision from Courtland White at 151 pounds, while Porter earned the judges' win over Tim Smith in one of the night's two bouts at 156 pounds.
In the night's other bout at that weight class, Phillip Hendrix earned a victory in the only bout to end before the final bell, as he forced the referee to stop his bout with Gustavo Tarango early.
In the lightest bout of the night, Matrus Arcano earned a decision over DK Nguyen at 119 pounds. Jinno Guervara added a victory in the lightweight division, as he decisioned Osama Farqualeet in a 133-pound bout.
Nick Holguin earned a 166-pound victory over Johnny Wells, while Jeffery Walton claimed the decision in his 171-pound bout with Naji Bseiso. Alan Lancaster defeated Joe Asenuga by decision at 190 pounds and Sean Richards closed out the night with a 205-pound victory over Patrick Lavelle.
On the women's side, Heather Parcasio and Bridgett Wall earned their first collegiate victories. Parcasio earned a decision over Sierra Borra in a 131-pound contest, while Wall received the judges' vote in her 162-pound bout with Nikki Freeman.
The Falcons are off from competition until January 8 due to finals and the Academy's holiday break.
