USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Seven meet records fell during the Air Force High School Open, which was held this past weekend (Feb. 8) at the Academy's Cadet Field House Indoor Track. The meet, hosted by the Falcons' track and field program, featured the largest field ever, with over 500 entries from around the country.
OUTSTANDING BOYS' TRACK PERFORMANCE
CERAKE GEBERKIDANE (Denver East HS) smashed the Meet Record in the mile with a time of 4:19.87, easily bettering the previous mark of 4:30.62 that had stood since 1993. Using the NCAA Altitude Conversion, his time would be the top high school time in the U.S. (4:10.05a), according to MileSplit.com.
CO-OUTSTANDING GIRLS' TRACK PERFORMANCE
KATIE RAINSBERGER (Air Academy HS) broke the 18-year-old Meet Record in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.82 and ALLENANDRA WATT (Speed T&F, Pine Creek HS) won both the 60-meter dash (7.54) and 200-meter dash (24.38).
OUTSTANDING BOYS' FIELD PERFORMANCE
CONNOR MCLEAN (Willamette Striders, Clackamas HS, Ore.) used a clearance of 16'3" to break the Meet Record in the pole vault, easily surpassing the bar of 15'6" that current Air Force vaulter Dylan Bell set as a high school senior in 2012. McLean's height is currently the 10th-best high school performance in the U.S., this season.

ZANE VANDERBERG (Boulder Fairview HS) ran 48.50 in the 400-meter dash to break the meet's 1997 mark and account for the second-fastest high school performance in the U.S. this season.
