
Gartrell, Dorsey Pace Falcons at Bryan Clay Invitational

AZUSA, Calif. - Highlighted by a victory in the triple jump from junior Kyle Gartrell and a Freshman Class Record in the 1500-meter run from Matt Dorsey, several members of the Air Force track and field team wrapped up competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday, April 18.
Gartrell recorded a distance of 46'10¼" to finish first in the 17-competitor triple jump, while Dorsey clocked a Freshman Class Record of 3:45.74 to debut in 10th on the Academy's all-time list. Dorsey, who finished third in his heat, placed 19th overall, in an event that featured 129 total runners.
He was one of three Falcons to finish within the top 35, as junior Zach Perkins finished 28th (3:47.95) and senior Jake Hawkins placed 33rd (3:48.86) in his season debut at that distance.
From the field, senior Regan Rogers placed fourth in the high jump with a season-best clearance of 5'6", while freshman Cydnee Reese finished fifth among 50 throwers in the discus with a toss of 150'11". Sophomore Angelea Ross added a sixth-place finish in the triple jump, following a season-best distance of 38'11" on her final attempt.
Freshman Kyle Jameson paced a trio of freshmen to top-25 times on the track, as he clocked a career-best time of 54.40 to place eighth in the 400-meter hurdles. Zach Johnson finished 19th among 55 runners in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 22.13, while Stephanie Robb placed 22nd in the 69-competitor 800-meter run with a career-best 2:15.55. Senior Josh Nielsen rounded out the Falcons' top-25 finishers, as he finished 16th in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 49.28.
Air Force returns to action tomorrow (Saturday, April 19), as it heads to Norwalk, Calif., for the annual Beach Invitational, which is slated to begin at 8:45 a.m. (PST).
