
Falcons in Fourth After First Day of Mtn. West Championship

After one day of action, the Air Force golf team is in fourth place at the 2014 Mountain West Championships, being held at the par-71, 7,144-yard Catalina Course at OMNI Tucson National. The Falcons shot three-over par total of 287 (+3) on Friday.
Pacing Air Force after the first round is senior Kyle Westmoreland, who sits in a tie for fifth place after shooting a one-under par 70 on Friday. Westmoreland birdied three of his first five holes and added another after bogeying No. 7 to make the turn at -3. He then posted two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey on the back. Fellow senior Philip Colwell and freshman Sunwoo Choi are tied for 16th place after each fired a one-over par 72.
Senior Jack Howard shot a two-over par 73 and is tied for 23rd while senior Todd Berglund is tied for 30th after a three-over par 74 on Friday.
New Mexico leads the team standings with a score of 279 (-5) after one round and UNLV's Carl Jonson leads the individual race after a five-under par 66 on Friday.
The second round of the Mountain West Championships will begin Saturday morning at 7 a.m. (PT), with the final round on Sunday.
