
Air Force Thumps Oakland, 5-1

The Falcons scored four goals in the first half to jump out to a huge 4-0 lead. The first-half scoring onslaught began with a goal by freshman Angela Karamanos in the sixth minute on a header off a free kick by sophomore Kristina O'Sullivan. Senior Kyle Williamson scored the second goal in the 29th minute, stealing an attempted clear by Oakland goalkeeper Stephanie Bukovec and scoring on an open net.
Freshman Megan Schulze scored in the 37th minute, taking a pass from junior Ally Swift and slipping a shot under Bukovec from 15 yards out for the score. Just a minute and a half later, sophomore Gabriella Gray scored off a header on a corner kick by junior Katie Case.
Oakland got on the scoreboard in the 80th minute as Alice Palmer scored off a loose ball from 10 yards out.
Just 30 seconds later, the Falcons made it a 5-1 game as sophomore Alison Skidmore took a pass from Schulze and fired to the left post from 20 yards out for her first-career goal.
Three Falcons played their first collegiate game. Freshmen Bridget Bielski, Tori Gilster and Shonte Moten made their debuts for AFA.
Air Force had a 18-13 shot advantage and was even 4-4 in corner kicks. Freshman Meghan Strang picked up the win at goalkeeper with five saves. Bielski played the final 13 minutes in goal.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Sept. 20, at Rice.
