
Launius wins Flight B of Metro State Invitational

Sophomore Dillon Launius won twice in singles to win Flight B of the Metro State Invitational Sunday in Denver, Colo. The Austin, Texas, native defeated Brandon Beardsley of Montana State-Billings, 6-1, 6-0 in the semifinals and Mark Ihrig of Denver, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, in the finals. Launius improves to 4-1 this season in singles with his efforts.
In other action, sophomore Nico Carpenter lost in the consolation bracket of Flight A, 3-6, 6-3, 0-1 (10-12) to Denver's Zach Fryer. Freshman Sean Chi lost to Spencer Weinberg of Colorado Mesa, 6-2, 0-6, 1-0 (10-4) in the Flight A consolation bracket. Sophomore Mark Kite was a 6-3, 7-5 winner over Steven Alcala of CSU-Pueblo in a consolation match in Flight B singles.
The Falcons are in action in two weeks at the New Mexico Baloon Fieta in Albuquerque, N.M., Friday through Sunday, Oct. 3-5.
