Johnny Wells Wins on First Night of WAC Main Event

SEATTLE, Wash. - Sophomore Johnny Wells picked up his first collegiate victory last night (Jan. 23), as the Air Force boxing team opened competition at the WAC Main Event in Seattle. Wells was one of four Falcons to compete on the first night of action at the Washington Athletic Club.
Competing in the 165-pound bout, the sophomore earned a decision over Purdue's John Baccino.
Sophomore Samuel Sheikh dropped a split decision to Oregon State's Craig Halaas in the 159-pound bout, while junior Jamal Johnson and freshman Dillon Wills lost decisions to Nevada's Kirk Jackson (142 pounds) and Zach Smith (156 pounds), respectively.
The Falcons return to the ring at the WAC on Saturday (Jan. 24) night with six bouts.
