Air Force Drops 1-0 Contest at UMKC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Air Force men's dropped a 1-0 match at UMKC in Western Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon at Durwood Stadium. The lone goal of the match came off a penalty kick in the 43rd minute.
West White of UMKC (6-9-2, 4-5-1) converted a successful penalty kick at the 43:26 mark for the game-winning goal.
Air Force held advantages in shots (17-12), shots on goal (7-5) and corner kicks (4-2) but was not able to get the equalizer.
The Falcons' best scoring chance came off the foot of senior Ben Kern. Kern's shot in the 74th minute unfortunately hit the crossbar, keeping UMKC's lead intact. Kern got two more shots off late in the game, but the Kangaroos were able to come out with the win.
Kern and senior Gus Jensen had four shots each to lead the Falcons. Junior Tucker Axhoj, sophomore John Sims and freshman Austin Dewing added two shots. Sophomore John Wendt logged four saves in goal for AFA.
(Update: Nov. 8, 2015) With the loss, the Falcons were eliminated from contention for the WAC Championships. Air Force caps its season with a 7-9-1 overall record and 4-5-1 mark in WAC play.
