Air Force Falls at George Mason Saturday

FAIRFAX, Va. - Air Force women's basketball dropped a 69-52 contest at George Mason in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at The Recreation Athletic Center Gym. Sophomore Cortney Porter scored a game-high 19 points, the most by a Falcon this season.
Air Force struggled getting going in the opening quarter, falling behind 18-4. The Falcons responded with a strong effort in the second quarter, out-scoring the Patriots (5-6) 22-16 to make it a 34-26 score at the half.
The Falcons got within five points of Mason midway through the third quarter, going on a 9-0 run to make it a 42-37 game. The Patriots followed with a 7-0 run, all on free throws, to begin to pull away. A 10-0 run in the fourth quarter essentially sealed the game for George Mason.
Taylor Brown and Kara Wright scored 14 points each to lead the Patriots. Chinyere Bell added 11 rebounds.
Porter surpassed her previous season-high of 16 points, scoring her 19 points in a game-high 34 minutes played. Porter was 8-of-17 from the floor, adding four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Junior Sarah Fotsch joined Porter in double-figures, scoring 13 points and adding four rebounds. Freshman Rileymarie Clarke scored six points and had four rebounds. Freshman Venessannah Itugbu led the team with six rebounds and two blocked shots.
Air Force returns to action Monday, Dec. 21, at Navy in Annapolis, Md.
