Calhoun, five players honored by National Football Foundation

Air Force head coach Troy Calhoun was named coach of the year by the National Football Foundation, Colorado Chapter, along with five players receiving honors, according to an announcement by the organization.
Junior safety Weston Steelhammer and senior defensive lineman Alex Hansen were each named first-team all-Colorado while junior Jacobi Owens (RB), Sevrin Remmo (OL) and junior Roland Ladipo (DB) were named second team.
Calhoun led the Falcons to an 8-5 overall record and the school's first berth in the Mountain West championship game, as Mountain Division champions. He has the Falcons in their eighth bowl game in his nine seasons as head coach.
Steelhammer was a first team all-MW selection for the second consecutive season, becoming the first Falcon since Reggie Rembert in 2009-10 to earn first-team honors in back-to-back seasons. Steelhammer leads the Falcons in tackles and interceptions. He was named to the Thorpe Award and Lott Impact Trophy watch lists this season.
Hansen leads the Falcons and is among the conference leaders in tackles for loss and quarterback sacks. He has had at least one stop behind the line of scrimmage in 11 straight and 12 of 13 games this season. He has also blocked two kicks this season and five for his career which ranks fourth all-time and tops for defensive linemen in school history.
Remmo has helped the paved the way for the offense to rank second in the conference in total offense. The Falcons lead the conference and rank third nationally in rushing. The Falcons lead the nation is sacks allowed with just two.
Ladipo is a first-time honoree in his first year as a starter for the Falcons. He is second on the team in tackles leads the Mountain West in pass breakups with 16. He ranks second on the team in interceptions with three. Ladipo recorded his first-career interception and returned it for his first-career touchdown in Air Force's season-opening win over Morgan State.
Owens leads the Falcons in rushing and went over the 1,000-yard mark with 1,016 yards for the second straight season to become one of just four players in school history to accomplish that.
