Air Force beats Northern Arizona, 4-3

Air Force defeated Northern Arizona, 4-3, Sunday afternoon in a non-conference men's tennis match in Albuquerque, N.M. The Falcons improve to 5-3 on the season with the victory.

Northern Arizona opened the match by winning the doubles point. Grant Taylor and Lucas Fumagalli picked up Air Force's lone win with a 7-5 victory at No. 1 over Kester Black and Adi Zilberstein.

The Falcons battled back to win four of the six singles matches. Taylor got the Falcons on the board first in singles with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Eden Peleg at No. 1. Fumagalli was a 6-4, 6-4 winner at No. 2 over Black. NAU won at No. 3 and 4 singles to take a 3-2 lead overall. The Falcons pulled even with Nicholas Carptenter's win at No. 6 over Thomas Hon, 7-6 (3), 6-4. Andrew Parks clinched the win for the Falcons at No. 5 singles. Parks won the first set 6-3 and rallied after losing the second set 6-1 to win a tie-breaker in the third, 7-6 (2).

"It was great to see the way the team fight back after letting the doubles slip away," Air Force head coach Dan Oosterhous said. "This is the best singles we've played all year and Andrew Parks came through in the clutch once again, winning a tiebreaker in the last match."

The Falcons return home this week with a pair of matches on Friday, Feb. 27. The Falcons host Seattle at 8 a.m. and Abilene Christian at 4 p.m. There will be free pizza and prizes available at the Abilene Christian match at the Indoor Tennis Courts.
