
Air Force Falls Saturday at Utah State

LOGAN, Utah - Air Force women's basketball (2-26, 1-16 Mountain West) dropped a 84-50 contest at Utah State (8-20, 5-11 MW) in Mountain West action Saturday afternoon at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Junior Madeleine Philpot led the Falcons with 15 points.
It was a game of two halves for the Falcons who trailed by just two points at the intermission. The Aggies broke open a 29-27 halftime game by going on a 55-23 run in the second half against the injury-depleted Falcons.
Guard Funda Nakkasoglu led Utah State with 22 points and nine assists. The Aggies had four players reach double-figures in scoring, shooting 47 percent from the field as a team.
Philpot led the Falcons with 15 points and six rebounds, hitting 9-of-10 from the line. The missed free throw on her sixth attempt snapped a string of 25 consecutive free throws made dating back to the conference-opener against San Diego State on Dec. 31.
Senior Lindsey Lewis, junior Christina Gamble and freshman Cortney Porter added six points each. Lewis had five assists and junior Lindsey Stimeling led AFA with two blocked shots.
Air Force returns to action Tuesday, March 3, in its regular-season finale hosting Fresno State. Tipoff, at Clune Arena, is 7 pm.
