Air Force goes 2-1 in rifle match

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - The Air Force rifle team finished 2-1 in a quad match against the University of Alaska, TCU and UTEP, Feb. 6, 2014. Alaska won the match with 4676 team points followed by Air Force and TCU with 4660 points. However, with the number of center shots tallied, Air Force broke a tie with 278 shots vs. TCU's 265 shots. UTEP finished with 4544 points. The rifle team is 16-2 for the season.
Air Force will host the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships this weekend: Saturday - smallbore; Sunday - air rifle.
In the match, the Falcons' Kevyn Stinett had the #2 score in the air rifle with 595 points, a career-best. She finished in smallbore with 569 points with an aggregate score of 1164. TCU's Mindy Miles had a 596 in air rifle. In the same gun, David Higgins and Meredith Carpentier tied with 591 points each. Tyler Rico finished with 589 points followed by Ryan Jacobs, who had 586 points.
In the smallbore, Rico was the Falcons' top finisher with 583 points; his final total was 1172 for the day. Higgins had the second highest score on the team with 575 points for an aggregate score of 1166. Jacobs came in third on the squad with 572 points and tallied a final score of 1158 points. Carpentier had a 569 in the gun to finish with 1160 points. Brandon Spencer, who scored a career-best 581 in the air rifle, finished with a 559 in the smallbore and an aggregate score of 1140.
Also shooting were Noah Kwock scoring a 567 in smallbore and a 573 in air rifle (1140), Mary Simonton had a smallbore 556 and air rifle 574 (1130). Allison Juergensen finished smallbore with 554 points and a 579 in air rifle (1133).
The smallbore squad finished with 2299 points and 2361 points in the air rifle (4660).
