
Men's tennis hosts pair of home matches

This Week: Air Force hosts two matches this week. The Falcons take on Grand Canyon on Friday, Feb. 13, at 5 p.m. and Citadel on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 10 a.m.
Last Week: Air Force defeated Montana State, 5-2, Saturday in a non-conference men's tennis match at the Academy. The Falcons opened the match by sweeping the doubles point. Grant Taylor and Lucas Fumgalli won 6-3 at No. 1, while Andrew Parks and Max Olson won 6-2 at No. 2. Dillion Launius and Mark Kite were 6-2 winners at No. 3. The Falcons won four of six singles matches. Taylor won 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1 while Fumagalli was a 7-5, 6-4 winner at No. 2. Olson won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4 and Launius won 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 at No. 6. The Falcons improved to 3-2 with the win.
Parks/Olson Undefeated: The doubles team of Andrew Parks and Max Olson is undefeated this spring. The pair has gone 5-0 at No. 2 doubles. The 5-0 mark leads the Falcons.
Head Coach Dan Oosterhous: Dan Oosterhous is in his sixth season as the men's tennis coach at the Air Force Academy after being named the program's 12th head coach on October 1, 2009. Oosterhous, a 1993 graduate of the Academy, replaced legendary head coach Rich Gugat, who retired after 36 years at the helm of the men's tennis program. Oosterhous, one of the best tennis players in program history, led the Falcons to a 13-12 record last season, its first winning season since 2006 and the most wins in one campaign since 2005. The Falcons also achieved their highest national rank in program history at No. 63 and finished the season ranked eighth in the Mountain Region, their best finish since 2005. Oosterhous has a 56-66 career record. Oosterhous, a native of Texarkana, Texas, is a 1993 graduate of the Air Force Academy. He is a senior pilot with over 3,100 hours in the C-5, C-21, T-38, and T-37. He has three children, Emma (17), Anna (15) and Andrew (13).
What's next: Air Force travels to Northern Arizona on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. The team then returns home the following week for four straight matches.
