Falcons fall to UC Irvine

UC Irvine kicked off its Armed Forces Weekend with a 7-0 sweep of Air Force Friday night at Newport Beach Tennis Club.

A pair of 6-2 doubles wins scored the early, 1-0 advantage for UCI (11-9, 1-0).

Singles saw UCI win all six six points while Nicholas Carpenter of Air Force pushed No. 5 singles to three set before Jonathan Hammel finished it off.

Air Force, who falls to 9-4 on the season, finishes off the tournament on Sunday with a match against service Academy rival Army at 10 a.m.
