Griffin Jax Named MW Pitcher of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Sophomore right-hander Griffin Jax of Air Force was named Mountain West Pitcher of the week for games played the week of Feb. 23-March 1, announced today by the conference office. It is Jax's first honor of the season and second of his career.

Last Saturday, Jax pitched 8.1 innings in Air Force's 2-1 win over Navy. The Greenwood Village native struck out a career-high 10 batters, allowing just four base hit singles and one walk. His lone earned run came after he left the game in the ninth inning. Jax allowed no more than one baserunner in any inning.

Jax joined Steven Pallares of San Diego State, who was named MW Player of the Week.
