Ramos claimed his third career USAG national title on Saturday, March 21, winning the floor exercise with a career-best matching score of 15.100. It was one of three USAG medals for the native of Broken Arrow, Okla., who also finished second on the parallel bars (14.600) and third on the high bar (14.400).
The national title on the floor exercise came one day after the senior shattered the program standard on the parallel bars, scoring a 15.600 during the team finals. In addition to improving the Academy record by 0.350 points, that score is the fourth-highest total in the nation this season.
Ramos, who shared the athletic department's March 23 award with James Salem of the Falcons' fencing team, was one of five individual event champions for the men's gymnastics team at the USAG Collegiate National Championships, while the squad collected the second-highest score in program history (432.850) to capture its sixth-straight team title by over 20 points. Sophomore Tim Wang (pommel horse), junior Denis Aurelius (still rings), junior Josh Pyne (vault) and senior Greg Chaput (parallel bars) joined Ramos as individual national champions.
Air Force remains at the Academy this weekend to host the 2015 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships. The meet, which features four of the nation's top 10 teams, will begin at 5:00 p.m.
