LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Eleventh-seeded Air Force women's basketball (2-28) dropped a 70-48 contest to sixth-seeded Wyoming (16-13) in opening round action at the 2015 Mountain West Basketball Championships at Thomas & Mack Center. Senior Jimi Blagowsky led Air Force with 14 points.
The Falcons started off slow, trailing 35-18 at the half. The Falcons got its offense going in the second-half, scoring 30 points. The slow start was too big a hurdle to overcome, however.
Blagowsky scored 14 points off the bench, returning from a high ankle sprain suffered three weeks ago. In her final game, the senior hit three, three-point baskets in 25 minutes. Senior Lindsey Lewis added 11 points and five rebounds.
Freshman Cortney Porter scored seven points and led the Falcons with eight assists and five steals, which were both new MW tournament records for Air Force. Junior Madeleine Philpot scored eight points and five rebounds. Philpot set a new Air Force record on the season, finishing with a 91.8 percent free throw percentage.
Wyoming had four players in double-figures scoring. Guard Marquelle Dent scored 20 points and Kayla Woodward added 17.
Four seniors played their final games for Air Force. The 2015 senior class consists of Blagowsky, Lewis, Angela Johnson and Kinda Kuster.
