
Air Force Drops Series-Opener at New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Air Force baseball dropped a 6-1 game at New Mexico in Mountain West action Friday night at Lobo Field. The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for the Falcons, who dropped to 15-17, 8-8 MW.
After racking up 43 hits total in its previous two games, AFA was held to four hits by UNM (17-15, 9-7).
Lobo starting pitcher Toller Boardman (6-1) allowed one run over 7.1 innings for the win. Hayden Schilling closed out the game with 1.2 scoreless innings of relief for New Mexico.
Griffin Jax (2-6) took the loss in the start for the Falcons. Jax worked six innings, striking out three. Freshman Nick Biancalana pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
Leftfielder Tyler Jones led the Falcons with two hits. Centerfielder Adam Groesbeck and second baseman Tyler Zabojnik also had hits for the Falcons. Shortstop Shaun Mize scored AFA's run.
New Mexico had 10 hits in the game. Four Lobos had two hits in the game. Designated hitter Chris DeVito went 2-for-4 with a double.
New Mexico scored a run in the first and two in the third to go up 3-0. The Lobos plated three runs in the sixth to go up 6-0. The Falcons scored their run in the seventh.
Game two the series is tomorrow. First pitch is 2 pm.
