
Air Force Drops Saturday Game at New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Air Force baseball dropped a 10-6 game at New Mexico in Mountain West action Saturday afternoon at Lobo Field. The loss dropped the Falcons to 15-18, 8-9 MW.
The Lobos (18-15, 10-7) rallied back from an early 5-4 AFA lead for the win.
After chasing UNM starting pitcher James Harrington from the game, the Lobos bullpen allowed one run over the final 6.1 innings. Reliver Alex Estrella (2-1) picked up the win. Harrington pitched 2.2 innings, allowing five runs.
Both team had 11 hits in the game. Second baseman Tyler Zabojnik went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, hit-by-pitch and an RBI for AFA. Shortstop Shaun Mize and third baseman Noah Pierce added two hits. The Falcons were aggressive on the base paths, stealing five bases.
Starting pitcher Jacob DeVries (4-5) worked 3.2 innings in the loss.. Junior Steven Trojan and freshman Michael Rieker followed up in relief.
New Mexico first baseman Jack Zoellner went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs to lead New Mexico.
Both teams plated a run to in the first inning. The Lobos took a 3-2 lead with two runs in the second inning. A four-run third inning put the Falcons ahead 5-3.
New Mexico scored a run in the bottom of the third to pull within one and took the lead with two runs in the fourth. The Lobos tacked on runs in the fifth and sixth to go up 8-5. Air Force plated a run in the seventh but UNM scored two in the bottom of the inning.
The series finale is tomorrow. First pitch is 1 pm.
