
Jones Earns Mountain West Player of the Week Honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Sophomore outfielder Tyler Jones of Air Force was named Mountain West Baseball Player of the Week for competition during the week of March 30-April 5, announced today by the conference office. Jones batted .500 (7-for-14) with eight runs scored and 10 RBIs in leading the Falcons to a perfect 4-0 mark in games played last week.
The Coppell, Texas, native went 1-for-3 with a walk, sacrifice fly and RBI in AFA's 9-2 win against Northern Colorado. On Thursday against San Jose State, Jones went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs in the Falcons' 13-3 win. On Friday, Jones ewnt 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. His two-run homer scored Air Force's first runs of the game in the 11-7 win. On Saturday, Jones went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and four RBIs in AFA's 19-7 win that completed a series sweep of a Mountain West opponent.
Jones shared weekly honors with Christian Stolo of Nevada, who earned MW Pitcher of the Week.
Jones is Air Force's third All-MW POW, joining sophomores Bradley Haslam and Griffin Jax.
