
Falcons Move into Ninth at MW Championships

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Air Force golf team shot a 291 during the second round of play to move up two places in the team standings at the 2015 Mountain West Championships, which are being held at OMNI Tucson National in Arizona. The Falcons are currently in ninth, with a two-day total of 593 (+25).
Sophomore Sunwoo Choi paced the Falcons during the second day of action, firing a one-under par 70 to move up 16 places in the individual standings. Choi recorded four birdies on the second day, including two on back-to-back holes (15, 16) to move under par for the round.
Freshman Todd Millard moved up 10 spots in the overall standings after recording three birdies and carding an even par score of 71 on the second 18. Senior team captain Blake Edwards also accounted for three birdies, as he and freshman Sutton Farmer finished the second round with matching four-over scores of 75. Junior Michael Fan shot a seven-over 78 to round out the Falcons' lineup.
After two rounds, Choi is tied for 16th with a two-over par score of 144, while Millard and Farmer are listed 25th (146, four over) and 28th (147, five over), respectively. Edwards is currently in 45th with a two-round, eight-over par score of 150 and Fan is tied for 53rd with a 154 (+12).
UNLV, ranked 31st in the Golfstat standings, continues to lead the conference tournament, holding a 19-under 549 after two rounds. Nevada is in second with a 557 (-11), while No. 32 San Diego State (560, eight under), No. 22 New Mexico (568, even) and Colorado State (574, six over) round out the top five. Just six strokes separate the next four teams - Boise State (581, 13 over), San Jose State (582, 14 over), Wyoming (583, 15 over), Air Force (587, 19 over) - while Utah State (593, 25 over) and Fresno State (594) rounded out the 11-team field.
UNLV's Kurt Kitayama is the individual leader after 36 holes, shooting 65 for the second straight day to stand 12-under par with a 130 total.
The Falcons close out the 2015 MW tournament tomorrow (May 3) morning at OMNI Tucson National's Catalina Course. Paired with San Jose State and Wyoming, Air Force is scheduled to tee off at 7:50 a.m.
