
Several Falcons Playing Summer Baseball

Air Force baseball has several players playing summer baseball during their a portion of their summer in 2015. Rising juniors Jacob DeVries, Griffin Jax and Tyler Jones are spending a portion of their summer playing in wood bat leagues.
The Air Force cadet summer schedule is broken up into three three-week periods. Cadets are allowed to take leave during one of the summer periods. All three players will spend their leave period playing summer baseball which does not affect their regular cadet duties over the summer.
DeVries is slated to play for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the Cape Cod Baseball League. DeVries is coming off a breakthrough sophomore season which saw the Castroville, Texas, native post a 5-5 record and 4.68 earned run average. DeVries ranked second in the Mountain West with 80 strikeouts.
Jax and Jones are currently playing for the Eau Claire Express in the Northwoods League. Jones is playing for the Express for the second-straight season.
Jax is coming off an all-conference campaign as a sophomore. The Greenwood Village, Colo., native led the Mountain West with 102.2 innings pitched this past season, ranking fifth with 72 strikeouts.
Jones was one of Air Force's top hitters, batting .301 with six homers and 41 RBIs. Jones, a native of Coppell, Texas, absorbed 19 hit by pitches in 2015, the second-most in a season in school history.
The trio were key pieces of the 2015 team that went 23-29, the winningest Falcon team in 14 years. The 22 Div. I wins by the Falcons set a program record.
