
Falcons Place 34 on Academic All-Conference List

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Air Force track and field team placed 34 athletes on the Mountain West academic all-conference team for the spring semester, the league office announced earlier this week. Highlighted by a school-leading 22 selections from the men's team and 12 additions from the women's squad, the track and field program accounted for over half of the Academy's 61 honorees.
Pacing the track and field team's list of representatives were four-time academic all-conference honorees and 2015 graduates Rebecca Esselstein (astronautical engineering), Kobi Rex (management), Casey Riggs (aeronautical engineering), Sierra Schepper (behavioral science) and Jake Spuller (computer science, cyber warfare option).
The Falcons' junior class was represented by Sean Bapty (electrical engineering), Grant Caswell (computer science, cyber warfare option), Patrick Corona (economics), Grant Hamilton (American history), Jordan McCool (economics), Daniel Shellhouse (humanities), Angelea Ross (systems engineering) and Riley Vann (English), while Matt Dorsey (biology), Jason Engel (geospatial science), Eric Hoff (aeronautical engineering), Taylor Hulslander (management), Stephanie Robb (behavioral sciences, human factors), Sydney Rohlwing (behavioral sciences), Samantha Skold (biology), Taylor Smith (economics/management) and Emily Smithwick (political science) headlined the sophomore class.
A total of 12 freshmen – Robbie Anderson (undeclared), Tyler Berson (aeronautical engineering), Calvin Berstler (undeclared), Katie Burnham (mathematics), Hannah Durbin (political science), Cam Elliott (undeclared), Andrew Johnston (undeclared), Tyler Koss (undeclared), Connor Severino (civil engineering), Shelley Spires (undeclared), Ryan Vicek (undeclared) and Chip White (undeclared) – received their first selection on the academic all-conference list.
The Mountain West's academic all-conference list for the spring semester includes baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, softball, women's swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's indoor and outdoor track/field. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or better and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
