U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- The Air Force men's golf team announced its schedule for the 2017 spring season, according to head coach George Koury. The Falcons will compete in six events, culminating with the 2017 Mountain West Conference Championships, April 21-23, in Tucson, Ariz.
In the fall, the Falcons posted a couple of program bests. At the CSU Ram Masters, Sept. 19-20, in Fort Collins, the Falcons placed fourth, the team's best finish ever in that tournament. The 858 at the CSU Ram Masters is the 10th best 54-hole score in school history. Senior Brenden Bone tied for second with a career best 207 (-3). Fellow senior Sunwoo Choi placed ninth with a two-over-par 212. Choi shot a career-best round of 65 in the first round. That round is the lowest by any Falcon this season and tied as the second-best round in school history.
The next week, Air Force placed sixth out of 19 teams at the Mark Simpson Invitational, hosted by the University of Colorado, in Erie, Colo. The sixth-place finish is the best in school history. Choi tied for fourth with a three-round total of 209 (seven-under), a career best score and place (T4th). His 209 score ties as the 15th best in school history.
Heading into the fall, senior Sunwoo Choi is the Falcons' top individual with a stroke average of 72.87 over 15 rounds. Fellow senior Brenden Bone is second at 73.73.
