
Ben Zeiler leads the Falcons on second day of MW Championships

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Freshman Ben Zeiler led the Air Force golf team in the second round of the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championships, Monday, May 4, at the Omni Tucson National Resort, Catalina Course in Tucson, Ariz.
Zeiler's 69 ties his collegiate career best in a team event. He opened the season with a 68 (-4) in the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational – Individual event. Zieler opened today's round on the Catalina Course with a pair of birdies, finishing the round at 34-35-69 with six birdies.
Junior Carson Baker made 15 pars en route to a 73 (+1). Senior Brooks Morrell and junior Eli Huntington each shot 74 and senior Eric Liveringhouse shot 76.
Baker is the top Falcon after 36 holes at even-par 144, tied for 35th overall. Morrell is tied for 44th at 145 (+1), followed by Huntington (147) and Zeiler (148).
Air Force's 290 (+2) in the second round ties the 290 the Falcons shot last season at the MW Championships in the final round. It also ties as the best score at the MW Championships since a 287 in the final round of the 2019 MW Championships, also at the Catalina Course.
UNLV, ranked 43rd in the nation, leads the tournament after 36 holes at 549 (-27), followed by Grand Canyon (550, -26) and four-time defending champion San Diego State (554, -22). Air Force is in 12th place at 584 (294-290, +8). The 584 after 36 holes is the best since 584 in 2023, also on the Catalina Course, and ties as the best since 582 at the Catalina Course in 2019.
The final round of the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championships begins at 7 am PT on Tuesday, May 5, at the Omni Tucson National Resort, Catalina Course, in Tucson, Ariz.
