
Golfers travel to Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championships, May 3-5

THIS WEEK: The Air Force golf team will travel to Tucson, Ariz., for the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championships, Sunday-Tuesday, May 3-5, at the Omni Tucson National Resort, Catalina Course. Live scoring will be available on Scoreboard by Clippd. The first Falcon is on the course, going off of No. 10, at 7 am PT on Sunday, May 3.
THE LINEUP: The Air Force lineup is: 1- Eli Huntington; 2-Carson Baker; 3-Ben Zeiler; 4-Ted Davenport; 5-Brooks Morrell.
THE FORMAT: Golfers will play 18 holes each day at the par-72, 7,262-yard Catalina Course. Five golfers will play each day with the best four scorers counting toward the team total. Tee times will begin at 7 am PT with groups going off of No. 1 and No. 10. For more information, please visit the championship central page.
THE FIELD: Air Force will be joined in the field by Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, New Mexico (No. 19), San Diego State (No. 38), San Jose State, UNLV (No. 42), Utah State and Wyoming.
ABOUT THE COURSE: The Catalina Golf Course is the host to over 35 PGA Tour events including most recently the PGA Tour Champion Cologuard Classic. The course has been selected as one of Golf Digest's "75 Best Golf Resorts in North America." It is parkland style with eight sparkling lakes and 80 bunkers. The 18th hole considered to be one of the finest and most challenging finishing holes on the PGA Tour.
LAST YEAR AT THE MW CHAMPIONSHIPS: The Air Force golf team shot a 290 on the final day of the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championships, Sunday, April 27, at the Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell, Ore. San Diego State, ranked 16th in the nation, won the conference championship for the fourth straight season with an 810 (-54). UNLV was second at 833 and New Mexico was third at 834. Air Force finished 11th with an 880. Eli Huntington was the top Falcon over 54 holes, placing 43rd with a 220 (+4, 74-74-72). Eric Liveringhouse shot a 223 (+7) and Ted Davenport shot 227 (+11). Carson Baker played the final two rounds, shooting 71-72.
THE FALCONS AT THE MW CHAMPIONSHIPS: Air Force's best finish at the Mountain West Championships came in 2013 and 2014 with a fourth-place finish. The Falcons placed seventh in 2017 (871), its highest finish since 2014. Air Force's best team score came in 2014 with an 861 (+9). That same season, Kyle Westmoreland posted the Falcons' best individual finish, placing fourth (211, -2).
LOOKING AT THE FALCONS: Three Falcons have played all 30 team rounds this season (Eli Huntington, Carson Baker and Brooks Morrell). Huntington leads the team with a 74.73 season stroke average. Freshman Ben Zeiler, who has played 21 rounds this season including all 15 this spring, is second on the team with a 74.86. Baker is third (75.27), followed by senior Brooks Morrell (76.19) and senior Eric Liveringhouse (76.44). Huntington shot the team's lowest round of the season at Bandon Dunes with a 67 (-4) in the first round. Zeiler shot a 68 in the second round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational – Individual (Sept. 21). Huntington, Zeiler, Baker and Liveringhouse all have a 69 on the card this season.
LAST TIME OUT: Junior Eli Huntington led the Air Force golf team in the final round of the Iowa Hawkeye Invitational, Tuesday, April 21, at the Bluetop Ridge Golf Course in Riverside, Iowa. Huntington shot a 74 (+2) in the final round and was the top Falcon over the 54-hole tournament, placing 34th with a 224 (+8). Junior Carson Baker finished the tournament at 225 while Brooks Morrell finished at 233. Senior Ted Davenport finished the three-round tournament at 232 and freshman Ben Zeiler finished at 235. Iowa, the host school, won the tournament with an 851 (-13). Southern Illinois was second at 857 (-7) and DePaul was third 866 (+2). Air Force finished 12th at 906.
