USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's basketball defeated Nevada, 59-53, in a Mountain West contest Wednesday night at Clune Arena. The win snapped a 32 game losing streak for the Falcons and gave head coach Chris Gobrecht her first win at Air Force.
Sophomore Cortney Porter hit a 3 point basket with 1:48 to go in the game to break up a tie ballgame and put Air Force up 54-51. The Falcons sealed the game by hitting 5 of 6 free throws to close out, giving the program its first win since Jan. 28, 2015.

Junior Sarah Fotsch scored nine and pulled down seven rebounds. Sophomore Dee Bennett and Colorado Springs native, freshman Venessannah Itugbu, pulled down nine rebounds each.
Stephanie Schmid led Nevada (4-18, 3-8) with 20 points and four steals.
Air Force outscored Nevada in each the first three quarters to build a steady lead. The Falcons led 12-11 after a 6-0 run and a buzzer-beating basket by Porter to end the first quarter. The Falcons out-scored the Wolf Pack 21-11 in the second quarter to lead 33-22 at the half. Air Force led 46-33 after the third quarter.
Nevada mounted a late rally in the fourth, going on a 15-2 run to tie it up at 51-51 on a three-point play on a layup and free throw by Nyasha Lesure.
After a pair of missed 3 point shots, Itugbu got to an offensive rebound and passed to Porter, who sank the open three to put the Falcons up. Nevada missed its final three shots, while the Falcons were able to seal the game at the free throw line.
As the buzzer ending the game sounded, Air Force players erupted in celebration on the court.
The Falcons dominated the rebounding, with a 52-32 advantage on the glass. The 53 points allowed was also a season-low for the AFA defense.
