Falcons Wrap up First Day of Tyson Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Backed by one improvement to the Academy's all-time standings and one top-five finish, eight members of the Air Force track and field team wrapped up the opening day of competition at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., on Friday, Feb. 12.
Sophomore Brooks Hardy recorded a personal-best distance of 59'2¾" in the weight throw to improve his #10 ranking on the Academy's all-time list. Hardy, who finished 11th in the 23-thrower field, added more than a foot to his previous career-best mark.
Classmate Zac Petrie clocked a career-best time of 1:52.01 to finish fourth out of 26 runners in the 800-meter run, while senior Dylan Bell tied for sixth in the invitational section of the pole vault with a clearance of 17'5".
Air Force concludes action at the Tyson Invitational tomorrow (Feb. 13) with eight events. Action gets underway for the Falcons at 11:00 a.m., inside the Randal Tyson Track Center. In addition, Air Force will have athletes competing at the Adams State Qualifier in Alamosa, Colo., and at the Husky Classic in Seattle.
