Senior Nathanael Zillweger won his second WAC diving championship in as many days. After winning the 3-meter springboard title on Wednesday, he won the 1-meter title on Thursday with an NCAA "A" standard 357.05 points. His 357.05 points are a new WAC Championship record and nearly set the overall WAC record of 358.65 set by former Falcon Dominic Vallejo.
In the men's final event of the day, the 200 free relay, the team of Devon Davis, Steffen Mount, Joey Gebhart and Michael Hannigan was third with a time of 1:18.34.
"It was a great night for us," head coach Rob Clayton said. "Kevin Jackson got us off toe great start as he just ran away with the 500 free. He broke the school record held by former All-American Chris Knaute. Michael Barnosky came back strong and set another school record in the 200 IM. The divers were outstanding again. Nate set a championship record and A.J., Nick and Erich all did a great job. It wasn't a perfect day, we had a couple slip ups, but guys kept battling. It was a terrific night and we have put ourselves in position to win a title over the next couple days."
The meet continues on Friday, Feb. 26. The WAC will be streaming the finals of all four nights. Viewers can watch for free by going towww.wacsports.com/live.
