Air Force sweeps SoCon Weekly Awards

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - For the second time this season, Air Force swept the Southern Conference lacrosse weekly awards as Christopher Allen was named the offensive player of the week and Doug Gouchoe was named the defensive player of the week.
Allen, a senior, played a big role in Air Force's 14-4 home win over Furman on Saturday, which marked the program's first-ever SoCon contest. The Hillsborough, N.J., native netted four goals and added an assist in the victory for a total of five points. Allen has recorded 10 points in his last three games and ranks second on the team with 11 goals and 15 points this season. It was Allen's first SoCon weekly honor.
Gouchoe earned his third defensive player of the week honor of the season by limiting the Paladins to three goals in 51 minutes of action. The senior from Concord, Mass., stopped seven shots for a .700 save percentage. He ranks second in the SoCon in goals against average (7.35) and save percentage (.544), marks that are good for ninth and 13th in the nation, respectively.
Air Force, 5-2 overall and 1-0 SoCon, continues league play against High Point on Saturday, March 19, at 2 p.m. MT in Falcon Stadium.
