Air Force opens conference play at New Mexico

This week: Air Force travels to Albuquerque, N.M., for a pair of matches against New Mexico on Saturday, March 5, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. One of the matches will serve as the conference opener for the Falcons while the other will be designated as a non-conference match.
Last week: The Falcons dropped a pair of non-conference matches. Air Force lost at Northern Arizona, 4-3, Feb. 27 and at Grand Canyon, 5-2, Feb. 28.
Northern Arizona - Northern Arizona defeated Air Force, 4-3, in a non-conference men's tennis match at the Aquatic and Tennis Complex in Flagstaff, Ariz. NAU opened the match by winning the doubles point behind wins at No. 2 and 3. Isaac Perez got the Falcons on the board with a win at No. 5 singles, beating Ruben Montano, 6-4, 7-6 (3). Luke Sanderson beat Jackson Lee, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6 singles. Jack McCullers gave the Falcons their third point with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 victory over Eden Peleg at No. 3 singles.
Grand Canyon - Grand Canyon defeated Air Force, 5-2, Sunday afternoon in a non-conference match in Phoenix, Ariz. Air Force won the doubles point by sweeping all three matches. Lucas Fumagalli and Tadhg Collins defeated Felix Schueller and Alexander Roggenkamp, 7-5, at No. 1. Jack McCullers and Max Olson beat Mathieu Rajaonah and Adrian Legarreta, 6-4, at No. 2 while Andrew Parks and Isaac Perez downed Mitch Maroscher and Meidy Chazeau, 6-4, at No. 3. GCU bounced back to win five of six singles matches to take the victory. Air Force's lone win came at No. 2 when McCullers defeated Schueller, 6-7, 6-3, 10-5.

Head Coach Dan Oosterhous: Dan Oosterhous is in his seventh season as the men's tennis coach at the Air Force Academy after being named the program's 12th head coach October 1, 2009. Oosterhous, a 1993 graduate of the Academy, replaced legendary head coach Rich Gugat, who retired after 36 years at the helm of the men's tennis program.
Oosterhous, one of the best tennis players in program history, has a 68-83 career record. A native of Texarkana, Texas, Oosterhous is a 1993 graduate of the Air Force Academy. He is a senior pilot with over 3,100 hours in the C-5, C-21, T-38, and T-37. He has three children, Emma (18), Anna (16) and Andrew (14).
