Air Force Drops Opener at UC Davis, 6-2

Air Force baseball dropped a 6-2 contest at UC Davis Thursday afternoon at Dobbins Stadium in Davis, Calif. The Falcons dropped to 10-5 on the season.
The Falcons, entering the game ranked second in the nation in hitting with a .353 team batting average, were held to four hits, its second-lowest total of the season.
UC Davis (6-10) starting pitcher Robert Garcia (1-0) allowed one run in seven innings pitched for the win.
Air Force starting pitcher Nick Biancalana (1-2) pitched five innings in the loss. Biancalana struck out five. Jacob DeVries relieved Biancalana and logged two innings. Matt Hargreaves pitched a scoreless eighth inning, striking out two.
Right fielder Spencer Draws had two hits, including an RBI for the Falcons. Center fielder Adam Groesbeck added a run, an RBI-double and two stolen bases. Shortstop Tyler Zabojnik also had a hit and first baseman and first baseman Russell Williams added a run.
UC Davis had eight hits. Third baseman Ryan Anderson went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.
The Aggies scored two runs in the second to take an early lead. The Falcons scored a run in the third. UC Davis then scored two in the fourth to go up 4-1. The Falcons scored a run in the fifth before the Aggies scored two in the sixth.
Game two of the three-game series is tomorrow. First pitch is 2:30 pm PT.
