Falcons Wrap up Action at Distance Carnival

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Highlighted by a top-10 finish from sophomore Andrew Milliron, several members of the Air Force track and field team wrapped up competition at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival this evening (April 1).
Milliron deleted more than 30 seconds off his previous best in the 3000-meter steeplechase, as he clocked a time of 9:08.52 to finish 10th in an overall field of 65 runners.
Fellow sophomore Andrew Johnston and junior Jason Engel finished within the top third of the 204-runner 5000-meter event, as Johnston placed 61st with a time of 14:54.78 and Engel finished 64th in 14:56.13. Freshmen Nathan Thomas and Noah Riley placed within the top half of the 101-runner field at 1500 meters, as the pair finished 48th (4:00.03) and 49th (4:00.09), respectively, in their outdoor debuts.
On the women's side, freshman Tami Cardenas clocked a career-best time of 2:17.11 to finish 28th out of 106 runners in the 800-meter run, while classmate Shanna Burns posted a personal-best 1500-meter time of 4:44.68 to place 54th out of 142 runners in that event.
The Falcons are also competing in Palo Alto today and will wrap up action at the Stanford Invitational late tonight.
