Air Force Continues Play at Conference Tournament

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Air Force golf team carded a five-over par score of 293 on Saturday, April 23, during the second round of play at the Mountain West Championships at the OMNI Tucson National in Arizona. The Falcons, who have two top-15 golfers in the individual standings, are currently tied for seventh with a two-day, four-over par score of 580 (287-293).
Junior Sunwoo Choi shot a one-under par round of 71 on Saturday to remain 13th in the overall standings with a two-under score of 142 (71-71), while classmate Brenden Bone shot a two-over 74 during the second round to tie with Choi for 13th (68-74). Freshman Tate Tatom shot a four-over 76 on the second 18 to finish the day tied for 36th with a four-over 148 (72-76), while senior Michael Fan, who also carded a four-over 76 on Saturday, is tied for 43rd with a two-round, six-over mark of 150 (77-73). Freshman Bryant Falconello rounded out the Falcons' lineup on the second day, recording a three-over par round of 75 to remain in a tie for 47th (76-75=151, seven-over).
Choi continues to lead the tournament field with 30 pars over the first two days of play (15 each day).
No. 37 New Mexico took over the lead in the team standings, shooting a three-under 285 on Saturday to take a two-round score of 565 (11-under) into the final day. No. 29 UNLV shot a seven-under 281 to move into second (567, nine-under), while Fresno State and 22nd-ranked San Diego State are listed third (570, six-under) and fourth (572, four-under), respectively. Colorado State and Nevada are tied for fifth with matching scores of 573, while Air Force, Boise State and Wyoming are all tied for seventh with two-day scores of 580 (four-over). San Jose State and Utah State round out the team standings after two days, as the two schools are tied for 10th with matching eight-over par scores of 584.
Nevada's Corey Eddings continues to lead the individual standings, as he shot a one-under 71 on Saturday to stand at eight-under (136) for the tournament.
Air Force closes out the 2016 Mountain West Championships tomorrow (April 24) morning, when it returns to the Catalina Course at OMNI Tucson National for the final 18 holes. Paired with Nevada, the Falcons are scheduled to begin the day at 8:20 a.m. (PT).
