Air Force Drops Sunday Game at Nevada

Air Force baseball dropped an 8-4 Mountain West contest at Nevada Sunday afternoon at Peccole Park in Reno. The Falcons are now 20-16, 9-10 MW on the season.
Nevada (18-20, 9-8) broke up a 4-4 tie with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Wolf Pack tacked on insurance runs in the seventh and eighth innings to take the series 2-1.
Air Force had nine hits on the day. Leadoff hitter Adam Groesbeck started the game with a home run. It was his second long-ball in as many days. Groesbeck added a double and one more run scored. Right fielder Spencer Draws and third baseman Bradley Haslam added two hits.
Reliever Tyler Mortenson (2-1) took the loss. Starting pitcher Trent Monaghan went three innings. Matt Hargreaves, Lance Fry and Austin McDaniel also pitched in relief for AFA.
Reliever Cameron Rowland (2-1) picked up the win for Nevada. Starting pitcher and leadoff hitter Trenton Brooks pitched four innings. Brooks went 3-for-5 with two runs scored at the plate.
The Falcons led 2-0 after scoring runs in the first and second innings. The Wolf Pack scored a run in the second and took a 4-2 lead with a three-run third.
The Falcons rallied back with two runs in the fourth on back-to-back RBI-singles by Draws and Haslam to tie it up 4-4.
Nevada then re-took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Air Force has one day off before hitting the road again. The Falcons travel to the state of Nebraska for midweek games against Omaha and Creighton. The Falcons play Omaha on Tuesday, April 26, at Werner Park in Papillion, Neb. Air Force then plays Creighton on Wednesday at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, site of the NCAA Baseball College World Series.
